Armor-Guard is concentrated borate powder that is dissolved in water and then applied by brush or spray to bare wood. When other factors prevent the use of Shell-Guard or Shell-Guard RTU, Armor-Guard is the next best preservative to use.
Armor-Guard should only be used as a preventative treatment since it typically stays near the surface of the wood and may not penetrate to active infestations that are deep in the logs.
